I'm in the process of restoring order. I've stripped the beds and towels from the bath. I love hanging the wash up on the line. This morning, the Osprey keep me noisy company. They are too quick for me to get a decent picture.
Crawling into bed after a long day smelling summer sun, grass, and fresh air on the sheets, I fall asleep so quickly, especially if I've remembered to put a sprig of lavender on my pillow.
Don't you just adore embroidered pillowcases? I found this set recently at an antique store and snatched them up for $5 for the pair. Here's a closer look.
I love anything with embroidery on it. Here's a skirt I found at a consignment store.
Wearing this sweet little number with it's daisy's and strawberries gives me such a kick. Though I wonder if a woman over 50 ought to be wearing such a sweet little concoction?! I can't tell you how many 9-year-old girls tell me they love my skirt.
Summer is a season to savor with it's cookouts, swimming pools, bike rides, sleeping with the windows open. Even the guest bedroom curtains have embroidered eyelet. Watching them sway in the breeze from an open window fills me with such contentment.
As I drift off to sleep, I can hear the cicadas through the open windows. They sing all day and into the night. When I step outside after midnight, even the cicadas are silent. This afternoon as I sat on my porch rocker meditating, I imagined the cicadas were a chorus of angels singing to me, it seemed to bring God into the here and now of this ordinary summer day.
Wishing you well,
Felicia
